ARC June Minutes

Minutes


June 10, 2009

The following members were present: Garmon Smith, Trudy Nevland, Deanna Piercy, Lisa Sharp, Dana Nickell, Kyle Jones, Dawn Sowinski, Stan Fullingim and Marilyn Ellis.

Garmon Smith, Chair, called the meeting to order at 12:10 pm.

Treasurer’s Report – The balance reported was $1,724.76.

Minutes – Trudy Nevland distributed last month’s minutes (which were accepted for the record).


BUSINESS

Annual Membership Drive
Drive is ongoing and dues are due. ARC’s newest corporate member is Citizens Bank.

OKRA – Glenda DeShazo made a motion that ARC become a member of OKRA for $75. Dana Nickell seconded the motion, and it passed.

Chickasaw Nation – Dana Nickell reported that the Chickasaw Nation conducted environmental camps in May, a grant was submitted for a re-use center, beverage containers were collected during the Relay for Life event, a composting project with red wiggler worms was completed and beverage containers will be collected at the park during the 4th of July activities.

City of Ada Recycling – Stan Fullingim, Recycling Coordinator, reported 13 loads (260 tons) were shipped in the first quarter and that cardboard was currently bringing $45/ton.

Community Pets – Dawn Sowinski talked about helping our community pets; she is looking into several different avenues such as Trap Neuter and Return (TNR) and an incinerator for PAWS.

Recycling Discussions

Members recommended more bins be set at the recycling center to prevent overflow on the weekends and that the bins need repainted.

Plastic Recycling – “Don’t forget to remove the lids/caps” and to keep Number 1s and 2s separated.
